Double Dovetail box

This was my attempt at Woodhackers hand cut double dovetails that I completed about a year ago. I do not have a band saw as of yet so I rigged up a few jigs to hold the work at specific angles on the table saw and hogged out most of the waste tat way and fitted the joints with chisels. I followed the blog fairly closely. This was given to my in-laws last Christmas as a box to hold to hold various games and so it comes out quite often which is nice. The main wood is Jatoba with the secondary wood in the joints and on the top being maple.

Hope you like.

Everything about this box is nice and looks really well done. The dovetails look terrific too.

Beautiful box! I would never have guessed that you hadn’t used the special Incra positioning jig to do those double dovetails. I don’t have clue one how they would be done but they sure look nice! Great job all around – the box, the dovetails, the lid, ....... everything!

The dovetail still really intimidates me and seeing your project is helping get me into trying it out! I think I will try something MUCH simpler for my first crack, BRAVO and hats off cause that box looks great!

Adam, I think the box looks great, you did a fine job with all of it. I have yet to try and make any dovetail joints but I am itching to try when I see the results such as yours. Keep up the good work!

You made a piece of art. Very nice looking box. I couldn’t get the pictures to toggle thru, only got to look at the first pic.
