Progress on my carving of the Archangel commission I am undertaking. We have settled on two foot tall statues in lieu of three foot. This one I have used Striata pine and carved it in three layers. Rough carved first layer and used Extrerior Aquidere Glue to clamp to second layer, shaped the shield and cloke and giving the back a final sanding before glue layer three which was the back and wings.
Still have some cosmetic carving to so before he is ready to color. I use wood dye as I find once I have the basic color right and have applied it to the carving, it can be darkened to give shade effect or lightened whichever is needed. The statue would them be given two or three coats of clear polyurethere to add
gloss and sea;.
