This was a pretty cool project that I started in order to not spend a bazillion dollars on cheaply made patio furniture.
I ended up using a bunch of scrap 1×4 boards, sanded them up nicely and put these together based on a plan my wife saw online.
They turned out much sturdier than I had expected and I’m very happy with the results after putting on a water protectant coat.
The table I threw together and drilled some holes to carry two wine glasses on either side, and it will fit a metal bucket for ice cold beer on the lower level.
A few 20×20 seat pads and I’m calling this one a success.
First go at actual furniture that won’t just be holding a few books or other doodads.

Those look nice! I like the table design, as it makes it much less likely that good wine will be spilled and nice glasses broken! Good work!

A “breadboard” type end at the top of the vertical slats of the seat back might complete the look a little more nicely, to my eye. May also be more comfortable. I don’t suggest that type of joinery, just a horiz board across the top of the back.

For what its worth.

Nice looking set of patio furniture! It’s so much more satisfying to enjoy furniture you built yourself!
