Great work. Did you glue all 64 squares together individually or did you use the strip method?

Very nice.
Where did you get the chess pieces?

Thanks.

Dustmite, It's a combination of strips and individual pieces. I only had enough long pieces to do 4 strips.

Emmett, the pieces are solid wood from a used board I found at an auction for $1. Factory made but nicer than plastic. The used board was veneered flake board that had a big hole in it. I recommend looking at garage sales for pieces since new pieces are pricey.

Nice work and good looking. I've been wanting to make a set for the grandkids, but have been too lazy so far.

Fine use of wood. Even better since it's "leftovers", and it will continue to provide hours of entertainment. In my case it could provide entertainment for years. My father and I have a game going that's been about 2 years in progress. Each time we talk on the phone (not very often) or one goes to visit the other (nearly 1800 miles apart - so even less often) we make a couple moves.

So far only a 4 hr match on this board. I thought 30 minutes was long between moves and was thinking I should have built a timer. A 2 year chess match takes the cake.
