This is a maple and paduak box that I made for my wife as a Christmas present. She was quite happy with it. I had more tear out on this project than I would have liked and have since invested in a higher quality crosscut blade that does a much better job.
The wooden hinges were more difficult to make than expected but turned out pretty well. In the future though I will likely recess the pieces connected to the lid so I get a better connection (more gluing surface) between the hinges and the lid itself. It’s pretty solid now, but time will tell how well this design holds up. Once again, with every project comes a little more knowledge about ways to improve how I do things. Which I honestly think is pretty cool.

Got to agree the hinges are good looking. Truely makes it different. Like the lid a lot too.

Very nice design. Good wood combo too. The hinges are an excellent innovation

Like the box and the hinges turned out great. I’ll have to remember this hinge design, I really like them.
