I Made this a few years ago for our Chiefs Mess at the Squadron I was selected for Chief at. Cutting the 4×8 sheet of Oak plywood was the easiest thing on this whole project! I cut 45’s on all four sides then glued and tacked rope trim on the edges. I cut the letters out on the scroll saw and hand sanded them. The anchor was cut out of pine, I spent a lot of time on it, once it was all cut and the grueling task of sanding it all out I took it to an artist to be air brushed (A mans got to know his limitations…Clint Eastwood) When I got it back I was so afraid that I would mess it up trying to attach it to the board, but as luck would have it I was able to get it attached and no problems to report. I hand rubbed about 5 or 6 coats of stain to get the finish. Although it is rather simple looking I am particularly proud of it as it was the first project I really had to make the details count on. Hope you enjoy.
