I followed the instructions this Instructable by Kasieanne to create this cutting board from maple, walnut and mahogany I had left over from my building blocks (plus some poplar for the sides). I surface treated with olive oil (but recently I sanded it up and chose a mixture of beeswax, white mineral oil and carnauba wax, as I felt the olive oil did not hold up well enough over the years).

Very nicely done. I like the wood contrast.
