Joust This / Joust That

In the summer of 2016 two puzzle artists from different countries came together to create a Puzzle Joust project. Both Kel Snake and Tracy Clemons started out by making a pair of initial puzzle boxes to start the joust. Each of them have their own unique style, ...each of them having their own devious plans for the ensuing mechanical mayhem to follow.

Once the 1st level box was complete, each Metagrobologist sent the pair of completed puzzles to the other for them to joust with. The rules of the joust build were simple in that the second artist must build on or around the ‘first level’ puzzle and that their design would prevent you from opening the first one prematurely.

The set that starts out with Tracey’s 1st level and was jousted with by Kel is called ‘Joust This’, while the version that starts out with Kel’s 1st level and jousted with by Tracy is called ‘Joust That’.

There are only two copies of each design set available.

Ya, for some of us this is a good time, lmao!

So lemme get this straight. The upper left box (I’ll call the diamond) became the LOWER left box (the diamond standing upright in a new frame)? That one is kinda obvious.

But the upper right box (looks like a tea storage box) somehow became the LOWER right (open framework) box?? THAT one looks like a huge metamorphosis too place, hard to even recognize the original box in the revised edition.

Is this correct?

Hey Joe, ..yes, that is correct, ...each artist is given free range of creativity when jousting. This was her first joust, but did very well. These particular designed were capped at being two levels only. Past Jousts have gone as high as four levels. The two pair sold the same day they became available, ...collectors love this kinda stuff.

Thanks Jeff,’s challenging and I am using the smallest bits of wood in my shop, ...a board ft of exotic material can last a loooong time. : ))
