I bought this old radio at a garage sale a few months ago, with the idea of restoring the cabinet and electronics. The radio would come on, but didn’t have any sound. I did some research on line, and realized it wasn’t going to be cheap to send off the chassis to get get fixed. I started looking at the cabinet and realized it was basically veneer on plywood with only the facing being real wood. So…..I decided it was to far gone to try and restore. But what was I going to do with it, so my wife didn’t think I pissed away 25.00. I bought the top cabinet about a year ago for five bucks at a garage sale, and has been a great cabinet to store some of my power tools. It has sat on two milk crates since I bought it, thinking some day I would build a base for it. Wahlaa…already made. I just had to cut it down so it wouldn’t be to tall. The right side where the drawers are, is where the speakers use to be, and the left side is a door that housed the turntable. So the shelving on the left side was already there, and I just had to make drawers for the right side. Came out pretty good, and I can tell my wife I got my 25.00 worth.
