This bed was completed on 9-7-2007. I is one of my horizontal Murphy bed style. The customer saw one that I built similar to this one and liked it but wanted to change up a few things. Instead of the Euro style, this customer chose the Alpine. On the bookcase they wanted all drawers instead of the doors.

It also features a cut-out into the corner section where I added shelves. This is so the normally wasted space can be used. If you notice the drawers do not have any pulls on them. This is so the bookcase drawers can be used as a headboard. The problem with the horizontal Murphy beds is, if it is not in a corner, the pillows fall off. Adding the bookcase eliminates that problem.

The finish is one of my favorites on Maple wood. It is just a couple coats of pre-catalyzed Lacquer.

Well done Chris. It is nice to see a horizontal bed as well. I need to make one for my spare room, and I think the horizontal would be the way to go. I like the idea of the bookcase/headboard combination. It gives me some ideas.

A horizontal Murphy bed, I like that idea Chris. What a great space saver for limited ceiling room.
