This was built as an Xmas Present in 2008 for my Mother. She always bakes at least five pies for the holidays and usually just sits them out in the garage to cool. Up until now she would cover them with a variety of kitchen towels to keep them nice.

Saw this project in a “Weekend Projects” book and decided it would be perfect for her. It’s made out of poplar with steel screening for the door. The carcass is assembled with biscuit joinery and the shelves are placed in dadoes.

I think the last picture is the best one – used within minutes of opening! The only complaint she has is that it doesn’t hold more than five pies. I guess I’ll have to make her a matching one before next winter! ;-)

Very nice piece Bob! I like the detail on the trip pieces.

Bob, this is a nice piece that I am sure your mother enjoyed getting. It has a nice design and I have no doubt that a second one would be welcome. After all it gives her room for more pies! :)

Nice project. Is that a stock molding trim?
I wish I had one of these (full of pies)...
