This is the prototype of the Challenge Coin cabinet that my son, who is in the Army, requested for displaying his collection. It is a small cabinet as the board that it will eventually be constructed from is only 8”X12”. In fact the prototype is still a little large for the board, but I do have an idea of what changes need to be made and how to go about making them. I found the board, a beautiful OLD piece of Ash in my Dad’s wood shop while home for a visit in Michigan just before Christmas. I had to cut it into 3 pieces to get it onto the plane. I had it all taped up nice and tight – the TSA guys must have had to cut it open as it had additional packing tape on it – I hope they liked the board as much as I do. Now it is back to Sketchup to make the needed changes.

Having a mirrored backing will allow the viewer to see the backs of the coins without having to remove them. Nice touch.

Looks nice BigFish. I’d be proud to display my coins in it.
