Project Information

I had just recently made a huge change to my master bath converting it from a tub to a door-less walk-in shower, my tile choice was an earth tone fossil travertine tile, floor to ceiling. I went with a Brushed Oil Bronze for the hardware. This Nogal was the perfect additive to house the bars of soap.

This is a simple bandsaw box made from Nogal, I encased it in west systems epoxy to water proof and protect the wood inside of the shower.

Blackie, nice job on the shower. It looks great. I think I'd put some air holes in the lid to let the soap dry out so it doesn't get so mushy, but I like the look of the soap dish.

Haha Bob, we got the same shower?

Thanks Alan, The lid fits loose I'm hoping it's enough to allow the soap to breath.

Looks good, Blackie- shower, and soap box. That is the first design I ever made in band saw boxes- and it is the design I have made most often. I didn't come up with it- but it is still my favorite.
How did you generate the grid on the bottom?
I would drill 1/4 holes in each of the grid areas so that water can drip out, and air go in.

Randy,

It's so new there aren't any towels hanging on the bars. LOL! Enjoy!

Yep Bob, they are close, I optioned no glass so as to reduce cleaning.

Donna actually it was your design I used, thanks to your book :) for the grid, I cut 1/8" X 1/8" pieces and cut them to fit, I think your suggestion on cutting holes would be smart, I didn't take into consideration water drainage.

You bet Bob come on.

Tom it's been used since those pics were taken :)

Cool Soap dish - will have to try that epoxy finish. Love the shower also - I wanted to do that in MY bathroom but SHE talked me out of it because no tub "might decrease the resale value" - now this is the hot new trend and she wants the walk-in convenience in HER bathroom.

Neat soap dish. I like the use of West System to protect it.
