Cherry trunk

My third custom designed “trunk” for grandson #3. This one out of solid cherry.
Decided on two 1/2 trays for this one. Top tray is deeper. Lower tray can be slid out and laid on bottom of trunk, or slipped under the top tray. Trunk does have feet (which don’t show in photos) to keep it up off the floor.
Trays are left natural cherry, while carcase is stained Georgian Cherry gel. 3 coats of water based Poly for durability. I still like the Rockler torsion hinges so the lid will never slam shut.
I plan to give the trunks to the boys on their 13th birthdays.
Thanks for looking!

That is really great. I love the lid, color and trays. You’ve given me some ideas for the pirate’s chest I’m planning for my grandson.

Have your say...
