Pipe-Barnwood Desks

A friend is opening a new real estate office and asked me to make three desks in an “industrial style”. The supports are all 3/4” threaded black pipe and fittings. The top is barn wood (fir I think) that was given to me by some friends that were rehabilitating an old barn that was sagging and needed some new structure and siding. The top was sanded with 80-grit paper then finished with Zinsser’s Amber Shellac and Johnson Wax. Simple construction.

Great looking desk! I definitely like the industrial look of it, and love that you left all the mill marks and character of those old boards—really adds to the charm of this desk!

Great combination of industrial and pastoral. Really makes a large corner desk look light. Fine, fine work.
