I’m up in Huntsville. I’d like to get some cypress on my lumber rack but I don’t know any good local sources. I suppose it’s widely available down there. What’s the going price? Do you buy it directly from sawyers?

Meanwhile, very nice swing. I’ve been planning to make some outdoor “garden” benches. Right now, I’ve got some sassafrass, which is OK for the porch, but not rot resistant enough to put out in the yard.

I I buy cypress from a local lumber yard. they don’t sell to walk in customers usually but I call ahead and they tell me when I can come by. I’m not sure what price is exactly for board feet. this is common grade. a 1 by 10 by 10 cost me around 10 dollars or so.
thanks. I hope to have me some furniture one day. I can’t afford it and I make it!

Nice job Charles. I’m about to a point of replacing a pressure treated swing I rebuilt a few years ago. I like that lower chain connection point below the seat. Would you happen to have any plans for this or did you just wing it?

I’d sent you a message. I’ve got plans and I’ll share if you’d like
