I submitted this idea to Fine Woodworking the other day and thought I might post it here as well.
While with a friend at his favorite cigar store I spotted an unusual item. At least for me since I don’t smoke. It was tucked behind a bunch of other stuff up on a shelf behind their register. When I asked what they were the owner said individual cigar humidors. These are lexan tubes with ‘O’ ringed caps that have a type of charcole baffle in the top. The owner said they weren’t selling and he probably would toss them. They were priced at $12 each and they had 10 left. I offered $50 and he jumped at it.
As you can see in the pictures I have each type of blade labled. This way I can remove the wire and get at the blades more easily. None have shown any sign of rust. This greatly beats the way I have stored them in the past.
Copy this picture and take it to your fancy smoke shoppe. They may just have some themselves and are willing to negotiate.
Oh and while I bought 10 the pic’s only show 7 because I sold the other 3 to another frond for $10 each making my 7 costing me about $3 each.
Oh and for those that don’t know which blade for what, there is a chart on the Olson web site.
The Olson site has a it of stuff to peruse.
