My wife and I decided that this set of candleholders would make very good Christmas gifts, so I made several sets at once to minimize set-up time.

Joinery is elegant; mitered corners held together with only glue makes for pretty pieces. This project taught me a new way to “clamp” a project … rubber bands were used to keep the wood in place as the glue dried, first on the oak pieces and then on the walnut cross pieces mounted in the windows.

I used red oak and walnut, finished with tung oil.

Henry, I really like your design on the candle holders. Your mitre joints look perfect and the walnut is a nice contrast with the oak. Really, really nice…...BTW, welcome to LJ’s.

I really like the grating / grill over the windows.
