This project was to experiment with turning bamboo. It’s a very hard wood but turns nicely and takes an amazing polish. The blank was cut from an inexpensive bamboo cutting board.

Hi Jim, Nice execution on this piece. Did you buy a pen blank? Where? I’d like to get my hands on some of these and try some transtint dye on them. I’ve been playing with the stuff and now want to dye just about anything that will hold still long enough . LOL

The blank actually came from a cheap bamboo cutting board picked up at a local discount store. The single $9 bamboo cutting board will yield sufficient blanks to make more than a dozen pens.
