This office library bookshelf system in Knotty Alder is 16’ wide with 12’ ceiling height. The cabinet height is 9’, and the area above the bookshelves is done with raised panel wainscoting. The customer had 2 requests:

1. He wanted his globe to be the center of attention, and my photography skills do not do it justice. It’s a really awesome globe, made of gem stones from around the world to represent the different countries.

2. He wanted it rustic, and informal, to match the home, which is a (approx.) 5700 square foot home designed like a mountain top ski lodge. NO CROWN MOULDING was his only request. So, instead, I used a modified chair rail I made on my moulding machine, made larger to cap off the cabinetry.

Jeff, this is another really nice piece. Taking it to the ceiling creates a nice look and certainly makes it the focal point of the room. Bumping out sections, as you did, adds some nice visual elements to the bookcase.

Nice job.
