Finally!—-I have actually finished my first grandaughter’s bed, which I have been working on since July.
I have really enjoyed the project, probably because of who it’s for, however, I’m so glad to have it done. I finished it last weekend, but couldn’t deliver and set it up due to some bad weather here. I didn’t want to risk anything happening after so much work. I guess my timing turned out OK since today is her 2nd brithday. I won’t give you any details now because I took tons of pictures duing the build, and will be starting a blog on that soon (If anyone is interested)

I don’t paint much of my work—-Obviously—-but for a little girl, this seemed appropriate. Or at least that’s what her mama said! (Never argue with your own daughter)

My problem now is I have set a precedent here, and #2 grandaughter is due any day now. I need to start hers now so it will be ready when she outgrows the baby bed, which I built 34 years ago for our kids.

Enjoy!
Kent

Been there, done that. You are right Kent, there is a great deal of satisfaction doing that for the little ones. Nice job.

Greetings Kent:
What color do you call that…. a certain shade of gray? Beautiful…...

WOW… what a super job you did on the granddaughter’s bed. She will be very proud of it, and I bet her Mom is too. You can only sleep so long in a baby bed….. lol. I’m like you—- I don’t like painting my projects, but in this case, I think it goes very well with the theme of a grandbaby. Congradulations on a superb job….

Wow Kent, this is just an absolute beautiful treasure! I LOVE the design !!!!!

I would love to see a blog on this , especially on the painting! Yes, I said painting…..... I have NEVER been able to get a smooth painted finish on “anything” like you did on this bed. What kind of paint? What kind of topcoat?
Any special techniques? etc etc etc….....

Thanks for sharing and I’ll look forward to the blog

I really love this Kent. Fantastic workmanship and a great design. I know it’s a bed, but I was thinking it could be adapted to be a bench, maybe with nice cushions on it. Of course we want a blog on this. The sooner the better. I can see this in our entryway. It would look very welcoming.
