I took some time out of the two big builds I am in the middle of to do something fun and build this tray for the wife. She wanted a tray for her buffet table to keep from spilling stuff on it. I had some small pieces of rough cut blue stained pine that were going to be shelves but they had some issues so they wouldn’t work for that project. I ripped the pieces into 2.5” wide strips, biscuit joined them together. Then cut a rough cut 2×4 I had laying around, planed it down to 3/4” thick, cut them to length and mitered the corners. Glued and brad nailed the side boards on. Used the router on all the edges and the corners. I finished it with a beeswax and orange oil finish, to keep the natural look. There is a piece of glass in it, it wasn’t square so it does float in the tray a bit but that will make getting it out easy which is good. The tray is 13”x18”.
