Prototype rocker

While this is not even close to a Maloof rocker, I have been wanting to build a rocker for display. My intention is to build a Maloof style rocker this fall. But I felt I needed more practice with the basics. Beetle Kill Pine. 48” tall. One thing I don’t like is that it sits too straight up and needs to lean back more. Also the seat needs to be lower. A few changes in contours, but overall I am reasonably pleased with the learning experience.

Thanks for reading and all comments and suggestions are welcome

Absolutely love it. I really like the contour of the seat and the back and also the way you joined the legs to the rockers. Great job buddy

This chair “ROCKS.” In just a short while, you will have mastered the design you want and it will be like everything else you make…....very very nice. Good job Monte.

I believe you are on your way to a winner. Looks great in all respect. A little tweaking and we’ll be rock’in.

So you’re “branching out” eh?
Looks good Monte. I also like how yo contoured the backrest. So many rockers are built with just flat backrests, and to me that makes a rocker very uncomfortable.

Nice job as usual.

I have watched all of bkap’s videos as well as several others. Regardless, I still like doing hands on to better understand the construction. Gotta try to put something different into the build.

Thanks for the comments folks.

Great rocker, Monte! Looks a bit tall, which would be just fine for me. Looking forward to version 2. Thanks for sharing.

Nice expansion of your talents! When you get it perfected I’m betting it will be a best seller.
