I’ve never been happy with the double bronto lamp that I made about a year ago, so I decided that one beast is enough and linked it to my “waver” mechanism.
And because I was out of my usual foliage-print shades, I used a plain linen shade and draped it with plastic ivy from the local craft store. It wasn’t until I fired it up that I watched the bronto move through the leaves as it munched—EUREKA !!! I hadn’t considered that possibility.
Nothing earth-shaking like discovering the formula for world peace, but the idea that a moving figure can interact with its background is another trick that I can add to my bag.
The foliage might need some pruning, but for now I’ll let it be.

Love it, John! Wasn’t “Let it be” a different machine?

You’re absolutely right, Candy. That was one of my animated music boxes.
They never went anywhere because they required people to actually do something.
That’s why I switched to animated lamps.
Turn a switch (oops)—done for the day. :-)

Cool project John. Very nice.
I’m going to annoy you now – If his jaws opened & closed as he approached the leaves….. mega cool.
Call me rude names if you want to, lol.

Now John.
Admit it, you would have been disappointed if I hadn’t posted some sort of “appropriate” picture !
Oh and by the way… I’m NOT QUITE that old … close, but not quite.

I like your animated projects! If my children ever spawn, I’ll have some cool examples for my grand kids to have.

BRILLIANT idea, and I think it’s doable with a pivoting jaw and a counterweight.
I wasn’t expecting the “interaction” until I turned it on for the first time and saw the head moving the leaves.
Looks like it’s time to move on to Bronto #3.

I’ve been watching it this afternoon, and now I’m thinking that droppings coming out of his a** would be more interesting.
Not all the time … just occasionally. :-)
