When I first got my old Craftsman wood lathe I wondered what the devil I was going to make with it. I wasn’t into bowls and I bought the turned legs I used for the furniture I made. Then… Now I do pens, pencils, bottle topers, pocket watches, Hermans and yes…an occaisional leg for a table or chair. The Hermans were my attempt at a ‘nut cracker / theme’ character. Without the nutcracker mechanism. I’ve had request for a cobbler, doctor, dentist and of all things, a casket maker so far.

I take the Model A mechanic along with Ethel to shows.

Now those are really cool! That is very imaginative. I like the design and versatility of making them “Theme” statues.

Keep up the great work.

AHH, now you have done it. My wife has all kinds of nut crackers. I have been able to convince her that she can buy them cheaper than I can make them. Then she saw yours. I know where there is a 4×10 piece of basswood in the barn, maybe I can get her to do the painting and glue on stuff.

hunter..actually I was using 4×4’s from Lowe’s that were so twisted they couldn’t sell them. They actually gave me about a half dozen at one time. Made a lot of firewood until I foound long enough sections that werent checked too much and twisted.
