Another dog bed

I saw Tom from Winnipeg’s dog bed and thought I would add to the theme. The bed design was borrowed from a blanket chest with my on take on function. I put the two drawers on top, my wife made the fused glass dog bone pulls, and made three raised panel shoji doors for the bottom. The doors slide or can be removed to open it up. Unfortunately our dog hated it. Just look at his face.

The bed is made from Afican Mahogany and Walnut with raised panels on the sides and back. My wife also made the bedding and pillow.

I love it. Great Job. My wife saw it and wants one for our other dog. Thanks for the inspiration!

Beautiful work. A very nice piece. Calling this a dog bed is really underselling it.

The dog does appear somewhat skeptical about it though. Might be good for cats. You could put 10 or 15 cats in there and close up the door and never see em….. Just kidding cat lovers. I have a very nice cat that we rescued from the Hurricane. She would love this piece, I’m sure. Dogs just aren’t very appreciative of fine furniture in my experience…..

Beautiful work. My dogs won’t sleep on the dog beds that I make, either. Great work!

Great build. Too bad the dog doesn’t like it. Could it be the smell of the finish? It takes quite a while usually for a finish to fully cure and dogs have an extremely good sense of smell. If that is the case he will probably like it later.

I’ve heard they love their owner’s smell too. Maybe if you put the cushion on your bed for a night he would warm up to it better.

Great looking piece of furniture and you call it a dog bed. It’s definitley a great idea. You can tell she don’t like it, that’s too funny. She’s just been spoiled, I’m sure. Maybe what you need is a new puppy that will get use to it right away.
