This is a DVD/Cupboard I made for my grand daughter. She didn’t specify what she actually wanted, so I made it to look like a colonial cupboard. At first, she didn’t know what type of stain/finish she wanted so I was going to use a colonial pine finish. Half way through the build, she decided she wanted it Black. Later she settled for a dark stain which as many of you know, pine is still pine even after you apply stain. This is the first time I’ve ever used Gel Stain and I like it. The stain color I used was Hickory, that way I could at least keep it dark for her. The dimensions are 63” tall. The bottom is 18” deep and 24” wide. The top is 8” deep. I used a couple of cleats to attach the cupboards together (which is shown in the unfinished photo) or separate for travel. This is also the first time I made a door using my router. The back is T&G pine same as the door front. I used Poly Urethane Aerosol spray for the finish. Thanks for looking.

Nice project and I like the bead board or what ever it is in the back helps give the project some personality.

Great looking DVD case! It’s got a nice balance of rustic elegance about it, and the stain definitely looks good. I’m sure she’ll love it, and get a lot of good use out of it!

Thank Guys, You may find it surprising but, the bead board used for the backing was “cull” lumber I picked up at Home Depot a year ago. I knew it would come in handy for something. Thanks for the compliments. I appreciate it. Oh and yes she liked it, so much so that she cleaned her room so she could show it off to all her friends. Before, you couldn’t walk in her room without tripping over something.
