Two of the five keepsake boxes I made for Christmas this year. Inspired by the Wood Whisperer project: They were a fun project and a good use of cutoffs from previous projects.

One has a walnut base, curly maple lid, and cherry accent pieces. The other has a cherry base, curly maple lid, and walnut accent pieces. I also made two reindeers (shown in the last picture) out of some of the scrap cherry.

They were finished with 3 coats of Arm-R-Seal semi-gloss finish.

Very nice work. I love the sliding dovetail for the lid and the locking pin is very clever.

Great build and design and the locking mechanism is wisely positioned.

Excellent work on the boxes. After watching that episode of the Wood Whisperer, I immediately went out and got a dove tail router bit. Just soon as I have some decent wood I’m going to make a couple as well.

Fantastic boxes and great combo of woods. Love the dovetail design and the key lock corners.

Keep it up.

-- Scrap Wood's the best...the projects are smaller, and so is the mess!
