Another one of those Himalayan Rock Salt lamps, but this time I made the stand out of beetle kill pine (Ponderosa Pine, to be exact).
Stands 18” tall and is 10” in diameter (lamp stand).
Finished with a natural Watco Danish Oil followed by several coats of hand rubbed Minwax gloss poly.
Channels were carved out and shaped using a long-neck Makita die grinder and sanded with a 3M sanding wheel to get the striations out and down to a smoother finish to allow for final hand sanding down to 300 grit.
Center hole drilled out using a spade bit big enough to accommodate the entire bulb socket and then a recess was routed out to accommodate the wood ring on the bottom of the lamp, itself.
Jig used to hold the stand while carving and shaping. Clamped to the table in upright position in this photo, but can also be turned horizontal.
