My brother in law and his wife are celebrating their 50th tomorrow so I made this segmented bowl as a gift. Red is their favorite color. That is the reason for the two red bands. This is my largest turning ever at 12’ diameter by 8” high. made from angico, paduak and maple. Finish is 2 coats of walnut oil and a walnut/oil beeswax polish.

Beautiful! Certainly a worthy gift for a 50th anniversary. I was not familiar with Angico, so I looked it up. From what I read, it sounds like this bowl might be around for a while. Did you find it had to work with?

Thanks. The angico was easy to work. Turning the side grain was easy – made lots of long ribbons. A little research on my part found lots of use of the hardwood for flooring.
