I design this chest around the central hinge located in the center of the back. There is 2 aluminium bars with a spring that pops them into the holes when you put the lid on. It’s made of walnut, african mahogany, birds eye maple and an unfinished cedar bottom.

Jason, you done woodworkers proud all over the world. That is one terrific looking blanket chest!! If I can live long enough maybe I can get to be 1/10th as good as you. Really nice work.
