Christmas Cutting Boards

Just adding to the long list of wonderful cutting boards that everyone made for Christmas. I made these end-grain cutting boards out of maple, cherry, and walnut. I used a simple sled to flatten it in my planer after the first glue-up (Just 3/4” MDF with hot glue and shims). I didn’t have enough to make one of them, so i used some scraps of walnut to form vertical end-grain stripes. I also forgot how long it takes to sand these things flat. What a pain.

I used CBdesigner to help design one of them. It was the first time I actually used it for something I made personally and it worked like a charm. If you haven’t used it, check it out:

First time you used CBdesigner – that’s interesting. I used it on 3 boards I made. I put together a blog the process and posted the a project them. The program was a great help – frankly it is what enabled me to make the boards as I wanted. Thanks for the program—and the boards you made look great too!

So that’s how those types of boards are made! Thanks!
