Some years ago I printed and filed a picture I found online of a simple outdoor bench. I finally made a bench and matching chair based on the photo I kept. They are built of cedar with simple joinery of glue, screws, and some dadoes. I made the bench first and made a few minor adjustments for the chair (used 1×4 instead of 2×4 for the lower stretchers and deepened the dadoes a bit; I think they make the chair look a little better than the bench). The curved seat and angled back rest make it quite comfortable for a quick and easy build. Unfortunately I didn’t record details of where I found the photo so I cannot give credit to the designer.
