Here is the last of the Christmas gifts. This is a basic slimline pen and pencil kit for my wife’s co-worker. I used a Rohdium kit and Sapele wood I had left from my Majestic Jr.

The wood is finished with CA and polished to a mirror shine.

I think I am getting the hang of this pen making thing.

Merry Christmas Everyone!

I’ve never used CA as a finish, looks good. Do you apply it like any friction polish, let it dry and then finish it like a acrylic pen.

Actually, the CA finishing kits have a very thin consistancy. You slowly turn the lathe by hand and apply the liquid. Then, you evenly wipe it across the work until it starts to set. You do that a couple times and then apply an accelerator. After repeating the process a couple times you have a pretty thick coating.

From there you use increasingly finer grits to bring it to a polish. Personally, I use a wet finishing process though you have to be careful to not get any water under the finish as it will completely ruin everything when the water gets to the wood. Some people think I am nuts using a water polishing process, but it works for me.

I hope this helps.
