Project Information

This shadow box is for an AirForce person who wished to have one made to match his badge which represents "Aircraft Maintenance level 7". He sent me a picture of the badge and his wishes for the final size. I took it from there. The entire box is made of solid maple. I used a CNC for the face. I cut it out in 5 different parts and then assembled them with a case behind it. The case is an enlongated octagon with a peek where the flag stands proud, so I used a 22.5° miter lock router bit set for it. I sprayed it with saying sealer & lacquer using a HVLP gun with my air compressor. The glass is all one piece, which took some doing in the part of the glass cutters.

The customer had a picture of one that had been made with a scroll saw or band saw and hand shaped. I tried to duplicate it with my CNC.
