I just completed this in time for Christmas dinner. It is one of my favorite pieces. Each “candle” consist of a small battery powered tea light in the top of a turned piece of wood. I chose several of my favorite woods from all over the world and I turned each “candle” in a different style.

The base is birdseye maple and the “candles” from left to right are as follows: laminated walnut and maple, padauk, Brazilian tulipwood, bubinga, leopard wood, olive and cocobolo.

Very nice, and looks like a lot of work. Great piece!

Rich, Why don’t you submit this project for the Yin Yang contest? I think it is fantastic. I like the asymmetrical mix of the turnings and the variety of wood. They really all come together to represent the holiday spirit. Not to mention the beautiful swirly maple base.
