I needed a rebate plane to fit the second layer of the hull on my boat project. As you can see I didn’t have one on the shelf so I fabricated this ugly duckling out of a 2×4, the iron from my cheapo Stanley block plane, glue, deck screws, two fender washers and a drywall screw. Surprisingly, it does the trick. This is officially my first plane build. Please don’t judge me

Whatever works, works. Not a bad temporary plane. If it got the job done thats whats important.

Great work, the ingenuity and resourcefulness of woodworkers never ceases to amaze me. Problem solving, it keeps the mind sharp.

I hate to burst your bubble but I think it looks pretty good. If you were shooting for ugly, you missed. It does the job and looks fine to me, great job.

I love this.

All it needs is a lie Nielson logo carved in the side!
