Well I got a cheap lath and a beginner set of turning tools! This was my first attempt to turn wood since high school. Since I no longer have a need for a “BONG” I was at lost for project ideas. I had a few piece of 8/4 walnut laying around so I tried to replicate (somewhat) two pieces. The base was a no brainer again scrap mahogany with a quick shellac and lacquer finish… Voila! a Christmas present. Turning is kind of fun but very “messy” by the end of this session I had walnut in places well…lets leave it at that. I still have lots to learn about turning but I am looking forward to incorporating that aspect of woodworking into my designs.
Thanks for looking.
