My helper and I were trying to decide what he could build for his Mom, and after some discussion we decided on a nice bandsaw box, something simple that he could do (he’s 13 and a very hardworker)

Each of the 3 is different in one way or another. The first box was drawn and then cut out by my helper. I handled the inside cuts for him, but the rest was his doing. This is both our first attempts at bandsaw boxes.

Once the first box was assembled, I couldn’t resist showing it off, and I got a commission to build another for one of my neighbors. Then after seeing these 2 great looking boxes I had to build one more for my Mom, who I don’t get to see often enough.

All are built from one piece of 5/4 cherry and finished with BRIWAX. The photos don’t do the finish justice, its amazing how well this cherry shines up with a few coats of wax. The boxes are about 6” wide by 7” long and 2” thick.
