I was asked a few weeks ago to make a small box for a friends daughter, for christmas.
Having numerous other projects already on the go, I was a bit rushed with this one.
This is the result.
You’ll notice the chip out on the front left side, I didn’t have the time to repair it properly. But I don’t think the 5 yr old recipient will care. :) I decided to have an elevated bottom, with a “hidden” sliding drawer underneath.
The finish is dewaxed shellac, followed by wipe on gloss poly.
Turned out ok, given the time constraints.

Thanks for looking.

nice box, if your friends doughter is like mine she might put a sticker over the chip out, my daughter put stickers all over the box i made her took me like a week or so to put the finnish on there but hey u have to expect kids to have their fun with anything u make even if u want to sit it on a shelf and admire it forever.

Did you carve out the lettering? It’s very nice.

She’ll never notice the chip. She’ll be much more focused on that secret compartment!

Awesome box….also wondering where you got the lettering if you didn’t carve it. That is my daughters name as well. Very, very cool.
