I had some large spruce trees sawed into lumber several years ago. They were big enough to cause me some concern around the house so I took them down. I have been using the lumber for several years for various projects and actually started these dressers a couple years back. They just kept getting sidelined for other projects. My wife insisted I get them done for Christmas because they are going to a young friend of hers with a couple of young boys who could really use some good dressers as they get older. I used an oil based sanding sealer and then one coat of Verathene brand Summer Oak stain with three coats of satin poly. I was going for the aged pine look. The pictures don’t do justice to the color (and I didn’t use a flash). The color is actually a little darker than it appears in the photo. It was a fun project even if it started out badly. I was cutting stopped dadoes and managed to cut them so I ended up with all left panels. What a maroon. I am probably the only person who has ever done that. They ended being through dadoes with a face frame after that. It pays to mark ones work before cutting. It all went well after that.

I like em, I bet these dont have cardboard drawer bottoms. They should get many, many years of service out of these. Very good build
