I see that someone just posted one of these but I’m going to have to give my credit to fellow LJ Dudley.

I thought that a nice spin on this would be to refine it a little and make an ornament for my wife. We’ve been married for a little over a year now and someday we’ll have kids. So. Written on the little inner square is my name, my wifes name, Christmas 09, and there’s 3 more sides for more names to come. Jokingly, but also a just a little serious, I was thinking about adding the dogs name so there’d only be 2 sides left for names. I didn’t, but it crossed my mind. ;-)

I made it following the pictures Dudley showed me in his project post, But I used oak and walnut.
I gave it some color with a soak in danish oil. Let it dry and put on 1 coat of wipe on poly.

For the ribbon I drilled a 1/8inch hole straight into one corner but not all the way through. I squirted some Gel super glue in the hole, twisted the two ends of the ribbon together and stuck them in the hole.

Hope you guys like it.

Hi Rick. Nice job. That gives me an idea for one similar to it.

Nice job Rick. Original idea. That ought to be a keepsake for your family for many myears to come. Why don’t you make a memory box? ... each Xmas stuff a new note, picture etc….. Uncle Snail
