This is a Christmas present for my wife. It is solid red oak and stained an extra dark mahogany. The two panels on either side of the TV slide out to reveal storage shelving for DVDs. I created this design to complement our existing furniture. The TV is a Sony Bravia 52 inch. This is a beautiful piece that I am sure your wife is thrilled with. It is well designed and the raised panels give it a nice look.

What kind of finish did you put on it?

The finish is a Minwax Red Mahogany mixed with Dark Walnut. Then a brushed on poly.

Nicely designed and beautifully executed! I really like the legs. How are they attached to support the weight of the whole unit and TV? Nice Sketchup drawing too. Thanks for sharing!

The legs were cut out of 3/4 oak to the general shape and laminated to make the block. Then the piece was sanded on the belt sander and I used a roundover bit to smooth the edges. there is a groove cut into the top of the block that the panel sits into and this is glued and screwed form the back.

I liked the legs too. Gave it a traditional touch that looks real good. Great entertainment center and great build.
