I made this steamer trunk for my friend for his daughter last Christmas (2008). The plans came from Rockler, and so did the hardware kit. I used oak and walnut like the plans called for. The corners have splined miters, with walnut used for the splines. I wish I had seen Marc’s podcast before I built this. I would have made the joints that he used. I am sure that would have been easier. Although I did learn how to make the splined miters. I stained it with Minwax golden oak and Minwax wipe on poly. The lock had to be deburred before it would lock correctly. The other hardware parts were very well made. The little girl loved it and so did her family. Thanks to Danny for letting me build this trunk for his daughter.

Great, ANOTHER project posting that I have to conceal from my wife!! Dennis, it looks great, I have no doubts that it was very well received.

Great looking steamer trunk. You did a nice job on it. I did one similar to yours for my wife a few years back. It is posted in my projects if you care to look.

God Bless
