Always wanted to build a bar, and I got my chance last summer. It was started in the shop then taken apart and put back together in the basement. All parts were stained on site. He is happy with his bar, and I am happy to get the chance to build it with someone else paying for it.

Next will be to build a locked cabinet to go behind it.

Knowing that you have done little woodworking, trust me you did it very very well. Very well indeed.
Big project like this surely request proper working plan, serious thought, focus, determinations, courage , commitment, time and effort. In short, I believe you have that package.
Congratulations!

Thanks to all, it means a lot when folks like you comment on a hobbyists work.

(I had the Chicago bar rail made at a local lumber mill. That saved a lot of time and money. )

Very nice job. Did you mill the bar-molding or purchase it? I like the trim work – real nice!
