Video here:

This is part of a shelving project and it has been getting big so I am splitting it up! The first video shows putting a bowtie in a beautiful but cracked piece of live edge olive wood. I wanted the surface to be solid so I also radiused and filled the crack with clear epoxy resin. I made the actual bowtie out of some black palm that was given to me as a present from the Big Island. It was… interesting to work with. It had layers that would chip off in big pieces so you had to be pretty careful when cutting it, but as long as you were mindful of the grain it seems to be a very sturdy wood.

Nice video and a beautiful slab. A handplane works really well getting that epoxy down flush after filling.
