Hello fellows at this time I would like to share my latest wood project. My first chair. All by myself.

Few weeks ago I was thinking in a gift to my wife’s birthday. One gift made by myself. One night the idea came through and I quickly transfered the idea to paper.

The main idea is an “A” letter stylized chair (remember an “A” letter ) because her name is Ana.
See the main steps below.

The first draw

The 3D model

I made a rough mock-up to check dimensions and comfort.

Interlocking pieces

Glue time

Shaping

In this case I used a handsaw for cut.

The rough cut and the final result

The other cut using the same way and final result

Shaping the big hole and round the edges

Here the dowels and the extra wood to increase the glue area.I screwed the seat on these two litte bars.

Shaping the arms

The dry fit only using the screw (24 screws)

The arms add strenght because they help to interlock pieces (and complete the “A” letter)

The final results

Very stable. She is on the corner without support below,All support from back piece.

Carpet for slide easily

Thanks for attention

That is an interesting design and it looks like you executed it well.

Pretty unique design and very original. Nice to see the process of making it.
