A year ago I built a desk for my wife friends Husband. I was cutting the top and my saw kicked and cut into the side. So I had to make a new top and had this top left over. I finally got sick of moving it around, so I decided to use it. I built this desk out of Hard and soft Maple. I used General finishes Gel stain Brown Mahogany to color the top and floating panals and cleared the rest. It was constructed with Mortise and tenon joints I did uses pocket screws and scap lumber cut at 45 degrees to re enforce the sides. The nice thing about this build was I only had to go buy the Gel Stain and hardware , everything else I had on hand.

Beautiful classic woodworkers design. Nice combination of colours.

Nicely built.
It is quite like a pair I made for my children many years ago.
While building them I found some brown linoleum (the real stuff) that I put on the top for a writing surface with a frame around it. It looked like leather and made a great surface to write on with no worry about wet drink glasses and etc. leaving marks.
