I completed these yesterday. They will be gifts for family members. The pen kits are from Woodcraft and the wood came from a box of exotic scraps I bought from Woodwerks in Columbus, Ohio. Every time I go to Columbus, I buy a box or two from them. I use them for pens and accents on other projects.

The finish is brush on lacquer that I apply with a cloth while still on the lathe after sanding with five separate grits up to 1000. I apply pressure and the lacquer cures immediately.

It dries instantly. I press the cloth against the spinning pen and the friction catalyzes the lacquer.
