I starting making pencil holders quite some time ago. I thought it was a good primer for things to come and helped me handle the type of joinery I was eager to learn. It was also a good way to use up a lot of scraps in the shop, not to mention it was and still is a lot of fun. There is no limitation to design as this one shows. You can make them very interesting, combine all sorts of wood combinations, and they don’t take a lot of time. It also seems everyone is glad to get one, so if you get bored and can’t think of anything else to build, go after the lowly pencil holder and enjoy yourself.

Great design:
You need to post a blog on the making of these. It’s a cool project.

I should have turned it a little or submitted a second photo, the gecko is chasing a couple of butterflies. Karson I may do that but I would like to submit a couple more and see what reaction I get. They are a lot of fun to do and very easy as well.
